No one is quite sure how old the tavern is. Some say it was built by survivors of the Battle of Brambles Forest during the War of the Foxes, too tired to march home. Others say its roots are on top of Faye ruins and that there are great treasures to uncover if you poke around the undercroft long enough.
The origin of the name, it's known, comes from a letter by King Halifax to his traitorous brother William the Red Prince in which it was stated 'Raise your flags and rally your troops dear brother, but know this, when the battle is done the only crown you shall wear will be of ivy upon your corpse.' History tells us that Halifax was correct in his prediction.
Whatever its origins, the tavern has been a fixture for merchants and adventurers heading north from The Capital or returning home with riches and stories. The hearths are always lit, the food is divine and you can never beat the company.
Welcome to the tavern! Come inside, meet some travelers, listen to the bards play, and enjoy yourself.
