Post that hangs around the Tavern for more than 6 months is up for grabs, Merri says anyway. This is one such letter.
Greetings Roger,
There's been another sighting of the rogue wyzard known as Silas. I've included a rather amusing wood etching produced by the scribe in the town of Peckum's Notch. I particularly love the hat.
Reports indicate that he and his band of faceless sycophants ambushed a local archaeological site. Of the 15 excavators on site, only 2 survived, and only 1 could speak. I'll spare you the details of their untimely demise, suffice to say it was very familiar to the incident involving the farmers of Wellingspring.
The dig site was excavating a potential Falantery temple of red granite construction. Once the survivors came to, they found the ground ripped open and an empty chamber before them.
It's obvious to me, then, that Silas was after some kind of artifact. That keeps in line with his other atrocities and thefts.
Roger, what could he possibly be after?
We know he's been around for a few hundred years, or his body has anyway, as for the soul and mind that's anyones guess. We know he studied shadow art under Crowley in the Capital. We also know he has sought after artifacts related to founders of the mythical magic school of Sottra Viori.
More power? Destruction of the world? A nicer hat?
I have no idea, but the killings have increased and I don't fancy seeing what this lunatic is capable of if left unchecked.
I know you have been searching after him for the last year, but please, take some time to visit me at my home in Ivy Wood, we need to strategize and prepare. You're one of the few practitioners that I fully trust, I can't lose you.
Your devoted friend,
Cecil
